Automate Shopify work with your agents

Maplith maps how Shopify’s orders, transactions, products and variants, and customers join your accounting, helpdesk, payments, recurring orders and CRM, so your agent knows where each thing is and how far to trust each join.

Connect Shopify to your own agent today; Maplith maps it from there.

Example flows

What your agents do with Shopify and Maplith

What starts the work, what your agent does with Maplith, and how it ends. Each flow uses the Shopify data and joins described below.

01

A customer asks where their order is

Trigger: A customer writes to your helpdesk: the order has not arrived.

With Maplith:

  1. Task context: Your agent passes the case to get_task_context and gets the playbook for late orders, if you put one in use, and what its key may do.
  2. Route: route from the helpdesk conversation to the Shopify order, by the customer’s email or the order number, with how much Maplith trusts each hop.
  3. The map: get_object on the order says where its fulfillment status and shipping label live, by order number; the agent reads both with its own access.
  4. The action gate: It drafts the answer, and request_action decides whether a person approves it before it is sent: by your agent in Intercom, only with write access you give it there separately, or by that person in Zendesk.
  5. Record and value: record_action records that the answer went out, and how the case ended.

Result: The customer gets an answer drawn from the order itself, approved the way you decided.

With Maplith’s Intercom integration (rolling out), a new case arrives as a signal on its own.

Before the customer writes: A parcel is late: tell the customer before they ask

02

A payout that does not match the books

Trigger: At month-end, the payments behind a payout and the bank line in your accounts disagree.

With Maplith:

  1. Ask: ask: “how do Shopify’s transactions tie to a payout and to the bank?” The answer cites the joins it rests on, and what the map could not establish.
  2. Route: route from the transactions to the payout by order and amount, then to bank lines and accounting by payout. The payout itself comes from Shopify Payments or your payment provider, so your agent reads it there with its own access.
  3. Findings: Any finding where a scan already saw the two sides disagree, with its evidence and a recommendation.
  4. The action gate: request_action for a task for the bookkeeper with the payout, the payments behind it and the bank line they should match, decided by the key’s policy.
  5. Record and value: record_action records that the task went to the bookkeeper, and how the check ended.

Result: Your agent knows which keys tie each order to the money in the bank, and which hops to check by hand.

03

A refund in Shopify that never reached the books

Trigger: At month-end, your bookkeeper asks whether every refund in Shopify was booked against its invoice.

With Maplith:

  1. The map: get_object on the transactions says a refund is a transaction of the kind refund, keyed by order number; the agent reads the month’s refunds in Shopify with its own access.
  2. Route: route from the refund to its order, then to the invoice in your accounting system by the order reference, with how much Maplith trusts each hop.
  3. The action gate: request_action for a task for the bookkeeper with the refund, its order and the reference to book it against, decided by the key’s policy. The month’s refunds go in one task.
  4. Record and value: record_action records that the task went to the bookkeeper, and how the check ended.

Result: The month’s refunds reach the bookkeeper as one task, each with its order and the reference to book it against.

Steps that use request_action or record_action need an agent key that may act; a read-only key reads the map.

Access

How it connects

Read-only, through access you already have. Maplith holds no Shopify credential.

  1. Connect your assistant to Maplith over MCP, by signing in or with an agent key.
  2. Your agent reads Shopify with the Shopify connector for Claude or the Shopify plugin for ChatGPT, approved for read access only.
  3. With your approval it sends what it read; Maplith builds the map and deletes the files again.

What Maplith never reads or does

  • Shopify itself: Maplith holds no Shopify credential and never signs in to it.
  • Anything that changes Shopify: Maplith never writes there. When your agent acts, it uses access you gave it.
  • What you leave out: you decide what your agent shares or an export contains.

Datasets that make a good map

Orders

One order line: the order, its status and totals, and one product line with quantity and price.

  • order id
  • order name (order number)
  • line item SKU

  • financial status
  • fulfillment status

Transactions

One captured payment or refund on an order.

  • order name (order number)
  • kind
  • gateway
  • status
  • amount
  • currency
  • created date

Products and variants

One product variant with its handle, SKU, price and inventory settings.

  • product handle
  • product id
  • variant id
  • variant SKU
  • vendor
  • product type

Customers

One customer account with order count, total spent, tags and marketing consent.

  • customer id
  • customer email (Maplith tries to mask it)
  • tags
  • total orders
  • total spent

Inventory

Stock for one variant at one location.

  • variant SKU
  • location
  • available quantity

The narrowest access Shopify offers for reading

  • read_orders
  • read_all_orders
  • read_products
  • read_customers

FAQ

Questions about Shopify and Maplith

Does Maplith copy my Shopify data?
No. Maplith keeps metadata about your data: which datasets Shopify holds, their fields, and how they join your other systems. It does not keep copies of the records. What your agent shares is read for a build and then deleted. The map may quote example values and evidence.
Which Shopify access does Maplith need?
None: Maplith holds no Shopify credential and never asks for one. Your agent reads Shopify with access it already has, approved for read access only. If you create your own Shopify app for it instead, the store owner or a staff member with app development permissions chooses only read scopes: read_orders, read_all_orders, read_products, read_customers, read_inventory, read_locations and read_shopify_payments_payouts.
Which AI assistants work with Maplith and Shopify?
Any assistant that speaks MCP, such as Claude, ChatGPT or one you build, connects to Maplith by signing in or with an agent key. To read Shopify, it uses the Shopify connector for Claude or the Shopify plugin for ChatGPT, approved for read access only. It reads the map, then does the work in Shopify with its own access. Connect your own agent
Where is my Shopify data processed?
In the EU, except model inference. Hosting, database and file storage are in the EU. Model inference runs in the United States under standard contractual clauses: to build the map, samples of the files and, in the findings step, whole files are sent to Maplith’s model provider, which deletes them within 30 days. Security states the details.
Does Maplith change anything in Shopify?
No. Maplith holds no Shopify credential and never writes to your store. When your agent acts in Shopify, it uses access you gave it. If its key may act, it can ask Maplith first whether the action may go ahead under your key’s policy, and Maplith keeps the log.
What about customer emails and other personal data in Shopify?
Shopify’s orders hold customer emails, names, phone numbers and addresses, and its customers hold emails. Maplith tries to mask email local parts and the names in an export’s own name columns (on by default; an admin can switch it off). It is a best-effort safeguard, not a guarantee, and it does not cover phone numbers or addresses: leave out what must not be processed.
Does Shopify have an MCP server Maplith can read?
Not one that reads a whole store. Shopify’s MCP servers are for developers, for shoppers, and for one signed-in customer’s own orders, and none gives a merchant read access to all their orders, products and customers. For more than a few thousand orders, share the CSV exports.
Which Shopify data makes a good map?
Orders, transactions, products and variants, customers and inventory. For a first map, the exports cover orders for the last three months; all products and all customers.
